Autumn 2018 newsletter

It has been a very busy year since we last produced a newsletter, so we thought it was time to update you with what we have been up to!

We have been joined by some amazing doctors, most recently Dr Jodie Ralph returned to us after her rotation to Point Clare. We are so thrilled with our whole team of doctors, who are all dedicated to providing the best care possible.

Our doctors have been so busy achieving amazing things in our local community. Dr Elly Warren has helped develop an initiative to increase the rate of Breast Cancer screening. Dr Georgia Page conducted the Central Coast’s largest Breast Check at the Central Coast Stadium, Dr Sam Pethen jumped off the Crowne Plaza, raising thousands of dollars for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, and Dr David King Sailed in the Sydney to Hobart Race!

Dr Mooney and Dr Alexander are both pregnant! We are thrilled for them both! We will miss them when they go on maternity leave later this year, but they will be coming back to us!

Central Coast Business Awards Winners!

The biggest surprise of the year was winning the Central Coast’s Excellence in small business Award. Seeing ourselves as a business is not something that comes naturally to any of us, and to win this award was a credit to our whole team and reassurance that we’re not doing too badly after all!

We enjoyed a great night at the finals in Sydney and would like to thank everyone for their support.

Flu jabs

We are expecting supplies from mid April. We do have access to a small number of vaccines if you are going travelling and need it before this date. Please keep an eye on Facebook for updates.

This year, for the first time, children from 6 months to 5 years are being encouraged to receive their free flu jab. There are also some strong flu vaccines that will be available for the over 65s. These have not yet been released anywhere. We are being advised by all Government and medical bodies that we should not be vaccinating before mid April, to ensure adequate cover at the later stage of the flu season.

Eatsense

We have been joined by an amazing dietician. Eatsense was established in 2013 by Nicole Saliba. She is committed to providing tailored and scientifically back nutrition advice. She is a local guru regarding gut health and has regular, popular seminars throughout the Central Coast. Check out their website, www.eatsense.com.au.

Please come and talk to us to see if you are eligible for the medicare rebate to see the Eatsense team!

Nicole will also be presenting an interactive 90 minute seminar on how what we eat influences our brain,. Mood and mental health. It is on April 18 at the Erina library, please check their facebook page for details!

We are increasing the number of appointments available on Saturday mornings! As of 7/4/2018, there will be 2 doctors available for all your medical needs. We hope this makes it easier for those working through the week, or taken sick at the weekend to access us. Don’t forget you can book online here.

For updates through the year, don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Wishing you a healthy Autumn

All of us at YFD!
